| Delivery Explained |

 |
Orders placed with deskshop.co.uk are delivered directly by the manufacturers (Dams
International). Office furniture is both heavy and prone to damage if mishandled during
transportation and is not generally suitable for transportation by couriers. Dams
International have built up their own specialist office furniture distribution network
with regional distribution centres to deal with this problem. Dams mostly use their
own employees for delivery but they do sometimes use the services of reliable and
trusted 3rd party companies depending on the delivery location and the general
delivery workload.
Each regional distribution centre operates slightly differently so it is very difficult to
give hard and fast rules as to how and when your order will be delivered.
We are not able to expedite the Dams delivery process. The process is likely
to be the same if you order from any other national suppliers of Dams International furniture
as very few companies actually stock the furniture and deliver it themselves. Unlike some
other companies we do monitor our orders and chase the manufacturers up if delivery
appears to be any slower than normal.
The Delivery Process
(1) Your order is checked by deskshop.co.uk for any obvious errors and then sent
to the manufacturers.
(2) The manufacturer has to manufacture the items you have ordered unless they are already
in stock in the central warehouse. Chairs and screens requiring non-stock fabrics (e.g. Band A
fabrics) are processed by a separate factory.
(3) Your order items are dispatched from the factory or central warehouse to Dams
chosen regional distribution centre. Sometimes order items are dispatched in several
shipments for a whole variety of reasons.
(4) When all items on an order have arrived at the distribution centre your order is
marked as ready to deliver.
(5) The distribution centre consolidate orders that are ready to deliver to build up
provisional delivery schedules that make efficient use of the transport.
e.g. it would not be very efficient to deliver to Watford and then to Bedford which
are many miles apart. The distribution centre would try to fill a vehicle with deliveries
for the Watford area and the fill another vehicle for deliveries to the Bedford area
probably for delivery on a different day. Sometimes separate schedules are made for orders
where installation is required as different staff may be deployed for installation orders
and delivery only orders.
(6) The distribution centre telephones the customer to confirm that the customer is
able to accept delivery on the proposed delivery date.
This is usually 1 or 2 days before delivery, sometimes longer. The customer may
decline to accept delivery on the date offered and this is the ideal time for customers
to discuss with the distribution centre as to when the next delivery might be.
PLEASE NOTE:
If the distribution centre is unable to contact the customer (e.g. the
customer does not answer their phone when called) the delivery is likely to be delayed as
delivery will not usually be attempted unless the date has been agreed with the
customer in advance.
(7) If the customer has chosen to have the furniture installed by the manufacturers,
the furniture will usually be assembled and installed on the customers premises at the
time of delivery. Sometimes the furniture is assembled at the distribution centre before
the delivery is made.
(8) Invoices are usually sent out on or shortly after the date that the delivery has been
scheduled for. Where payment has been made in advance these invoices are receipted invoices.
